Director Regional Transmission Planning at American Electric Power

Hassan Hayat is an experienced professional in the field of transmission planning, currently serving as the Director of Regional Transmission Planning at American Electric Power since March 2012. In this role, Hassan is responsible for regional, interregional, and competitive transmission planning activities across the PJM, MISO, and SPP regions, as well as identifying transmission asset renewal portfolios within AEP's eastern and western footprints in PJM, SPP, and ERCOT RTOs. Prior to this position, Hassan held roles as Regional Transmission Planning Manager, Planning and Engineering Supervisor, and Transmission Planning Engineer at American Electric Power, along with a position as a Transmission Planning Engineer at Aerotek. Hassan holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electric Power Systems from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University.
