William J. Fehrman

President and Chief Executive Officer at American Electric Power

William J. “Bill” Fehrman is chairman of the Board of Directors, president and chief executive officer of American Electric Power.

Prior to joining AEP, Fehrman was president and chief executive officer of Centuri Holdings Inc. and successfully helped launch Centuri as a public company, while leading their efforts to partner with regulated utilities to build, modernize and maintain energy infrastructure.

From 2018 to 2023, he served as president, chief executive officer and director of utility holding company Berkshire Hathaway Energy (BHE), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. BHE serves more than 12 million customers throughout the United States, Great Britain and Alberta, Canada. In this role, Fehrman drove significant financial growth and customer service improvement.

From 2007 to 2018, Bill served as president and chief executive officer of MidAmerican Energy Company (MEC). He has held multiple executive leadership roles over the course of his career, including president and chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Energy Renewables, president and chief executive officer of PacifiCorp Energy and president and chief executive officer of Nebraska Public Power District.

Fehrman received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree in business administration from Regis University.

Fehrman currently serves on the Boards of American Electric Power, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation, The Columbus Partnership, Edison Electric Institute, Nuclear Energy Institute, and Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited.
