Maliha Ali

Maliha Ali is a mixed methods researcher in the Health Program at AIR, with over fifteen years of experience in health services research. Her primary responsibilities include leading and supporting qualitative and quantitative data collection and analyses on projects related to health equity, cross-sector collaboration, and the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders.

Dr. Ali helps to develop and implement training and technical assistance programs to healthcare providers, with a special focus on advancing health equity through promoting trauma-informed care and reducing stigma around addiction and medications for addiction treatment. She has extensive experience studying the interplay of social determinants of health and healthcare access and utilization, substance use disorders, and adolescent tobacco use.

Previously, Dr. Ali was a Research Assistant supporting the Dean’s portfolio of tobacco control work at the Milken Institute School of Public Health, at George Washington University. Dr. Ali is a medical graduate of Gulf Medical University in the United Arab Emirates, where she practiced in Internal Medicine before specializing in public health.
