Gottumukkala Raju

Gottumukkala Raju's work experience includes various roles in well-known organizations in the medical field. Gottumukkala is currently a Section Editor for Gastroenterology Curbside Consults and Gastro Grand Rounds at the American Gastroenterological Association. Previously, they held the position of John Stroehlein Distinguished Professor and Director of Endoscopy at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Raju has also contributed to the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) as the Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, Editor In Chief, and Co-Editor, among other roles. Gottumukkala served as the Chair of the World Endoscopy Organization Webinar Committee at the World Endoscopy Organization. Additionally, Raju has been involved in academia as Chairman of the Advisory Board for Endoscopy Tech Training Program Development at Houston Community College, an Associate Professor at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and an Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Gottumukkala Raju's education history includes various degrees and certifications. In 1979, they obtained a Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) degree from Andhra Medical College, followed by a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in 1987. Gottumukkala then pursued a DM degree from Delhi University in the field of study not specified.

Furthermore, they completed a Gastroenterology - Clinical and Research Registrar program at the Royal College of Physicians ODTS at Rotherham General Hospital in the UK from 1990 to 1993. In 1993, they enrolled in the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, and from 1995 to 1997, they attended the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine for a Gastroenterology Residency Program. From 1997 to 1998, they participated in a Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School, focusing on Advanced Endoscopy.

Aside from their formal education, Gottumukkala Raju has obtained several certifications. In 2017, they received certification in Gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
