Elizabeth McCabe Deal

Elizabeth McCabe Deal serves as the Assistant Vice President and Deputy Chief Communications Officer at American University since August 2021. As the founder of Washington Channel Strategies, LLC since January 2018, Elizabeth has developed public affairs initiatives, including efforts for the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration. Previous roles include Strategic Communications Consultant and Communications Director at the Justice Policy Institute, where Elizabeth led campaigns for criminal justice reform. Elizabeth's experience spans various organizations, including serving as Director of Public Affairs at the Alliance for Natural Health, Vice President of Public Affairs at Porter Novelli, and Assistant Commissioner for External Affairs and Communications at the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. A graduate of Fordham University with a BA in Political Science and John Jay College (CUNY) with an MPA in Urban Studies/Affairs, Elizabeth has focused on advocacy, crisis communications, and strategic engagement throughout a distinguished career.
