Malcolm Weir began their career in 1988 as a Technical Staffer at Triathon Business Computers. Three years later, in 1991, they moved to Sanyo/ICON as a Senior Engineer. In 1994, they joined EMC Corp as an Engineer. Finally, in 1996, they began working at AMPEX Data Systems Corporation, where they held the roles of Chief Technology Officer, Chief Technologist, Technical Strategist, and System Engineer.
Malcolm Weir attended The University of Edinburgh from 1982 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science.
