Dr. Reiner Steins has extensive work experience in the field of innovation management and research and development. Dr. Reiner is currently serving as the Chief Innovation and R&D Officer at Aperam since September 2021. Before this, they worked as a Consultant for Innovation Management and Digital Transformation at the Institute for Management and Marketing from February 2021 to September 2021. Prior to that, Dr. Steins held the position of Director of Research and Development Global at Aleris Rolled Products Germany GmbH from November 2014 to February 2021, where they were responsible for knowledge management and global expert communities in the automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors. From July 2004 to October 2014, they served as the Head of Research and Development at WKW.automotive and before that as the Head of Materials Engineering within R&D from March 2001 to July 2004. Dr. Reiner began their career as a Technical Sales Engineer at Timminco Limited / Timminco SA from November 1996 to February 2001, where they focused on European markets.
Dr. Reiner Steins completed their Master of Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials Science at RWTH Aachen University from 1986 to 1993. Dr. Reiner then pursued a doctoral degree in Metallic High Temperature Materials Development at ETH Zürich from 1993 to 1996. In 2021, they also obtained a degree in Digital Transformation Management from WBS Training Schulen Berlin, focusing on the leadership of digital transformation processes in an Industry 4.0 environment.
