Koussalya Balasubramanian is an accomplished engineering and project management leader with extensive hands-on experience in developing innovative, environmentally friendly products. Currently a Climatebase Fellow and the Founder of the Bala Kamalam Environmental Fund, Koussalya actively supports student-led projects in climate change and sustainability in Tamil Nadu, India. At Apple, Koussalya serves as a Senior Engineering Manager, focusing on safety-critical system development, while previously holding roles such as System Architecture Lead and contributing to the IEEE 802.3bt standard. Koussalya's background includes significant leadership positions at Cisco, where Koussalya was instrumental in architecting Universal Power Over Ethernet (UPOE) technology, and a range of roles in research and software engineering. Koussalya holds an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology.
