Philip Carns

Philip Carns is a Computer Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, with a focus on designing scalable methods for data-intensive high-performance computation since January 2008. In addition to involvement with Argonne, Carns serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University and holds a fellowship at the Northwestern Argonne Institute of Science and Engineering. Previous experience includes a role as a Principal Software Development Specialist at Argonne, where research centered on high-performance storage systems, and as a Software Developer at Acxiom Corporation, specializing in high-performance data storage software. Academic qualifications include a PhD, MS, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, all obtained from Clemson University between 1995 and 2005, with earlier research experience as a Research Assistant and a Short Term Research Appointment at Argonne.
