Ewald Doornebal

Ewald Doornebal, PhD, is an accomplished immunologist currently working at Epitopea since January 2022. Previously, Doornebal served as a postdoctoral research associate at The Roger Williams Institute of Hepatology, utilizing a personalized, human immunocompetent tumor tissue slice model developed during the PhD studies to explore immune-checkpoint regulation in liver tumors. Doctoral research focused on overcoming challenges in pre-clinical oncology models to accurately represent the immuno-microenvironment of liver cancer, leading to the development of innovative disease models. Additional experience includes consulting for Cambridge Consulting Network and internships at Mayo Clinic Rochester and Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Ewald Doornebal holds a PhD in Immuno-oncology from King's College London, complemented by a Master's in Medical and Pharmaceutical Drug Innovation and a Bachelor's in Pharmacy from the University of Groningen.
