Claes Gustafsson has had an extensive work experience in the field of biotechnology and bioinformatics. Claes is the Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at ATUM Bio, a position they have held since 2003. Claes also co-founded DNA2.0 (now ATUM) in 2003, where they served as the Co-Founder and CCO.

Prior to that, Claes worked at Maxygen from 1998 to 2002, starting as a Scientist from February 1998 to December 1999 and later becoming the Director of Bioinformatics from January 2000 to December 2002. Before joining Maxygen, they worked at Kosan as a Scientist from May 1996 to January 1998.

Claes started their career as a Postdoc at UC San Francisco from April 1995 to April 1996 and later worked as a Postdoc at UC Santa Cruz from March 1993 to March 1995.

Claes Gustafsson obtained a High School Diploma from Hjalmar Lundboms Skolan in 1982. Claes then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, General at Umeå University and completed it in 1985. Claes furthered their education at Umeå University and earned a PhD in Molecular Biology, which they completed in 1992.
