Christoph Schilling

Christoph Schilling is a highly skilled professional in the field of biotechnology, currently serving as the Laboratory Head for Industrial Biotechnology at BASF since August 2021. Prior to this role, Schilling worked as a Scientific Researcher and PhD student at the Technical University of Munich from July 2017 to July 2021, specializing in metabolic engineering and microbial exopolysaccharides, as well as developing novel CRISPR-Cas12a tools. Additional experience includes a Research Technician position at acib GmbH, where efforts focused on engineering Pichia pastoris for non-canonical amino acid incorporation, and an internship at Evolva SA centered on metabolic engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Schilling's early academic involvement as a team member in the iGEM Graz project and research assistant roles at Graz University of Technology laid a strong foundation in protein engineering and genome editing.
