Daniel C. Chung

Daniel C. Chung, DO, MA, is a highly experienced medical professional currently serving as Chief Medical Officer at Beacon Therapeutics since June 2025. Previously, Daniel held the same title at SparingVision from February 2021 to June 2025 and served as Therapeutic Area Leader for Ophthalmology at Spark Therapeutics, Inc. from June 2016 to February 2021, where responsibilities included leading the ophthalmology franchise and managing clinical development, marketing, and education related to inherited retinal diseases. Daniel's extensive background in ophthalmology includes roles as Medical Affairs Ophthalmic Lead at Spark Therapeutics, Scientific Advisor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and Senior Investigator at the University of Pennsylvania, contributing significant expertise in gene therapy for retinal degeneration. Daniel completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Genetics at Cleveland Clinic and trained at Summa Health System as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology.
