Werner Willemse is an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in optical and mechanical engineering. Currently serving as Engineering Director at BioNano Genomics, Inc. since February 2015, Werner previously held roles as Engineering Manager at Brooks Life Science Systems, where responsibilities included managing the Mechanical Engineering and Refrigeration Group and developing microscopy platforms. As a Senior Project Engineer at Cyntellect, expertise in developing instrument architectures and conducting life cycle testing was demonstrated. Werner also worked as a Systems Engineer/Project Manager at DMAIT, where five optical media production systems were designed and commercialized. Earlier experience includes roles as a Mechanical Engineer focused on thermal control systems at Delta Design and as a Pilot Manufacturing Engineer at IVT Boston Scientific. Education includes a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego and various certifications in Lean Six Sigma and Optical Instrument Design.
