BIOVIT

BIOVIT have been awarded Innovate UK funding (as part of the Better Food for All programme) for a £500k R&D project, in collaboration with Swansea University, to carry out the World’s first study to measure the difference in bioavailability and efficacy between synthetic vs plant-derived nutrients. BIOVIT will also develop market leading NPD, including the World’s first plant-derived multi-nutrient blends, for use in food manufacture, which are food-process-stable, giving guaranteed nutrient content to foods post baking / freezing / pasteurizing / etc, enabling mass consumer products fortified with plant-derived nutrients for the first time. 100% of the nutrients used in BIOVIT products are sourced from organically certified farms. These vitamins and minerals are extracted from leaves, flowers, roots and fungi and then standardised for nutritional content, so they can be used to precisely fortify foods in the same way as synthetic multi-nutrients. Although the long term health benefits of using synthetic nutrients is arguable at best, plant-derived nutrition has supported the development and growth of all animals on Earth. This study will, for the first time, quantify the impact upon a person’s health of relying on synthetic nutrients vs plant-derived nutrients.
