Ian James has extensive experience in the engineering and sports coaching sectors, having retired as an Engineering Associate Fellow in September 2020. Ian currently serves as a Level 1 Tutor and Club Mentor for The Football Association while holding leadership roles in SAE International as Chair of the Propulsion Division and the E36 Technical Committee. In the realm of football coaching, Ian leads the U7 team at Birmingham City FC and has previously coached at Aston Villa Football Club's Disability Centre of Excellence. Ian's engineering career includes significant positions at Rolls-Royce Engine Control Systems, Aero Engine Controls, Goodrich Engine Control Systems, and TRW Aeronautical Systems, with expertise in controls maturity, reliability, and electronics. Education was completed at St Peters RC Secondary from 1975 to 1980.
