John de Boer

John de Boer is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in government relations, policy development, and strategic research. Currently serving as Co-Chair of the AI Working Group for the Government of Canada and Co-Chair of the Cyber.Right.Now. Council at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, John also holds the position of Senior Director for Government Affairs and Public Policy at BlackBerry. Previous engagements include chairing the Expert Group on AI and Big Data at the United Nations University and leading significant research initiatives on urban humanitarian responses and inclusive cities. John’s academic credentials include a Post-Doctoral degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from The University of Tokyo, underpinned by a strong foundation in political science and international relations.
