About Koodoo

Koodoo is a digital mortgage platform that helps lenders distribute and underwrite mortgages digitally. The platform today powers digital distribution for 15 of the top 20 lenders in the UK as well as comparison for major brands e.g. Compare The Market, ClearScore, Confused.com, Experian, Go.Compare, Nerdwallet amongst others.

Our mission at Koodoo is to create a world where securing the best home finance deal is transparent, seamless and empowering. We do this through helping customers understand their mortgage options on their favourite comparison sites. As a result of increasing demand for mortgage advice, in early 2023 we will use Koodoo’s platform and partnerships to launch our first charge mortgage advice service, enabling customers to search products and receive advice simultaneously.

The Role

Our ideal Product Designer is someone who embodies a blend of technical expertise, creative flair, and a user-centered mindset. Here's what we're looking for:

Key Responsibilities

• Design Systems: Maintain and expand our design system, ensuring consistent and efficient design.
• Strategy: Participate in brainstorming sessions with product managers to identify opportunities, understand user needs, and contribute to the product roadmap.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other designers to refine requirements, ensuring new features align with design principles. Create clear and concise documentation to facilitate communication.
• Communication: Effectively present design decisions and rationale to the wider team, fostering understanding and alignment.
• Prototyping and Testing: Build prototypes to demonstrate interactions and participate in user testing sessions to gather feedback.
• Stay Informed and Innovate: Stay up-to-date on design trends and tools. Bring fresh ideas to the table and continuously improve our products.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain a keen eye for detail throughout the design process, ensuring a high-quality final product.
• Data-Driven Design: Use data to inform design decisions and iterate on your work.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.

Required Skills:

• Experience: 3+ years of experience designing digital products, with a demonstrably strong design portfolio showcasing your talent.
• Portfolio: A design portfolio that demonstrates design principles for web and/or mobile platforms.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, or similar design tools with a strong understanding of prototyping concepts.
• Understanding of UX Principles: A solid grasp of user-centered design principles and user testing methodologies.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate design concepts and rationales to team members and stakeholders.
• Right to Work: Must be legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located.

Preferred Skills:

• Additional Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS as well as proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
• Commercial and Business Thinking: An understanding of how design decisions can impact business goals.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Experience collaborating with various teams (marketing, sales) to ensure designs align with business objectives.
