Stephen Tjoa has a long and diverse work experience. Stephen currently holds the position of Group Chief People Officer at BoardRoom Group since August 2022. Before this, they were an Advisory Committee Member at AWWA Ltd from November 2022 to July 2023. Prior to that, they served as Partner Strategic Pursuits at SolveCube from June 2021 to July 2022. From November 2020 to July 2022, they were the Chief Talent Strategist at Influence Solutions, where they oversaw talent solutions and provided leadership development services. Stephen Tjoa had a long tenure at KPMG starting from March 1991, where they served as Partner in various roles, including Managing Partner's Office/People Performance and Culture. Stephen played an instrumental role in developing and delivering progressive people programs, making KPMG one of the best places to work. Stephen left a lasting legacy and groomed many CHROs across generations. Prior to KPMG, they worked as a Senior Officer at Seagate Technology from October 1989 to March 1991.
Stephen Tjoa has a diverse educational background. Stephen began their education at St Joseph's Institution (SJI) from 1975 to 1979, where they obtained their O Levels in Science. Following this, they attended Swiss Cottage Singapore from 1980 to 1983 for their Pre-University education, focusing on Science.
In 1984, Stephen enrolled at Tarrant County College and obtained an Associate Degree in General Studies, a versatile field of study that covers a range of subjects. Stephen then attended the University of North Texas from 1985 to 1987, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology.
Continuing their studies, Stephen further pursued a Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Boston University from 1987 to 1988. This specialized field focuses on applying psychological principles to the workplace.
Apart from their formal education, Stephen Tjoa has also obtained additional certifications. In 2021, they became a Certified Practitioner from the Academy of Solution Focused Training. Stephen also holds an ICF Member Badge from the International Coaching Federation, which they obtained in the same year.
