Gayle Laird

Gayle Laird is a seasoned photography professional with extensive experience in visual storytelling and asset management across various prestigious institutions. Currently serving as Senior Photographer at the California Academy of Sciences, Gayle leads photography initiatives encompassing a wide range of subjects and co-manages the global BigPicture Natural World Photography competition. Previously, as Senior Photographer at the Exploratorium, Gayle produced impactful visual content collaborating with scientists and artists. Gayle’s entrepreneurial spirit is demonstrated through ownership of 415 Photography and freelance roles, where diverse projects included film stills and public art initiatives. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising & Graphic Design from Pepperdine University.
