Sarah W. Colenda graduated from Perryville High School and is a lifelong resident of Cecil County. She resides in Principio Furnace near Perryville, Maryland. Ms. Colenda is the executive director of the Principio Furnace Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization in Cecil County. She is a Maryland Farm Bureau member, vice president of the board of directors for the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenways, secretary of the Elkton YMCA, board member of the YMCA of the Chesapeake, vice president of the Chesapeake Heritage Conservancy, Inc. (Skipjack Martha Lewis), past president of the Rotary Club of North East, has served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna, Perryville Chamber of Commerce, Cecil County Chamber of Commerce and the Arc.

Ms. Colenda has worked with numerous other community groups including West Cecil Health Center, Harford and Cecil County Boys and Girls Club, Fair Hill International, Elk Creek Combine Driving and Fair Hill International Young Event Horse Championships, special events for Union Hospital, Boy Scouts Round Table, Cecil County Fair, and has served on the Cecil County Comprehensive Plan Review Committee.
