Maaria Parry currently serves as the Ministerial Adviser for Climate Change Adaptation at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and as Chief Specialist at the ELY-keskus, where coordination of climate adaptation work is undertaken in the national Climate Unit. Prior to these roles, Maaria was a Climate Specialist at the Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority, focusing on climate change adaptation measures, and held a temporary position as Head of Unit for Climate Change at HSY. Additional experience includes serving as Executive Director for Vihreät - De Gröna, Programme Management Consultant at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, and Disaster Risk Management Consultant at FAO. Maaria's educational background includes a Master of Arts in Geography from King's College London and a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of Helsinki.

Finland has a total of 15 ELY Centres. They are tasked with promoting regional competitiveness, well-being and sustainable development and curbing climate change. ELY Centres have three areas of responsibility: • Business and industry, labour force, competence and cultural activities • Transport and infrastructure • Environment and natural resources The Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment steer and supervise the activities of the Employment and Economic Development Offices (TE Offices).
