Baker Mordecai, P.E. started their career in 1984 at the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) where they served as the Head of the Water/Wastewater Branch until 2006. In 2006, they joined the Charleston Water System where they held various roles, including Director of WWCD and currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer.

Baker Mordecai, P.E. graduated from Virginia Tech in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis on environmental studies. Baker then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Environmental/Water Resource Engineering from the University of South Carolina, completing their studies in 1998.
