Yasmeen Nkrumah-Elie

Yasmeen Nkrumah-Elie, PhD has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Yasmeen currently works at ChromaDex as the Global Director for External Research (clinical & preclinical), where they manage a portfolio of over 240 studies at more than 160 institutions in 30+ countries, focusing on advancing the science of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+). Prior to this, they were the Director of R&D for External Research and the External Research Program Coordinator at ChromaDex.

In 2015, Yasmeen founded Health & Wealth with Dr. Yaz, a freelance consultancy that provides scientific communication, health promotion, curriculum development, and program management services.

Previously, they worked as a Laboratory Manager at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, where their research involved developing in vivo models to study genetic-induced obesity using genomics, metabolomics, and bioinformatics techniques. Yasmeen also served as a Research Scientist & Project Coordinator at the same institution, focusing on clinical asthma metabolomics studies and improving prediction of response to asthma medication.

Yasmeen has also held roles as an Affiliate Research Scientist at National Jewish Health, a Project Manager & Senior Scientist at Oregon State University, a Co-Lab Manager & Scientist at Florida A&M University, an Environmental Engineering Technician II at the City of Tallahassee, Stormwater Management Division, and a Secretary and Member of the Board of Supervisors at Ochlockonee River Soil and Water Conservation District.

Yasmeen gained early experience as a Bioinformatics Intern at NASA Ames Research Center.

Yasmeen Nkrumah-Elie, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences - Toxicology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University from 2005 to 2011. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from the same university between 1997 and 2002. Their high school education was completed at George Washington High School from 1993 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, they have also obtained certifications such as the Medical Science Liaisons Preparation Workshop from the Medical Science Liaison Society in November 2017, and the Scientific & Technical Writing 6-week Workshop from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
