Ray Buford

Ray Buford serves as the Director of Security for the Mayor's Office since February 2016 and has been part of the Mayor's Protection Team for the City of Detroit since February 2000. Buford holds an MBA in Public Safety, Leadership, and Diversity from Cleary University, where education is ongoing, and previously earned a BBA in a similar field. Additional certifications include training from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Protective Detail, a Certification in Threat Assessment from Gavin de Becker, and expertise in Celebrity Protection from ICON Global. Buford began law enforcement training at the Detroit Police Academy and completed a certificate in Protective Services Operations at the Vehicle Dynamics Institute.
