Benjamín Garmendia

Benjamín Garmendia has a diverse work experience. Benjamín began their career as an Intern at Itaú BBA in 2016, followed by an Intern role at Fundación Microfinanzas BBVA in 2017. That same year, they also worked as a Corporate and Investment Banking Intern at BBVA. In 2018, they co-founded Check, an adaptive learning platform to learn maths in secondary schools in Mexico and Peru. In 2020, they co-founded Prendea, a product with more than 5,000 learners across Latin America. Benjamín raised a $2M seed round from John Danner, Austen Allred, Federico Antoni, Rethink Education, Reach Capital, Learn Capital and Y Combinator. Benjamín currently holds the role of Product Lead at ClassDojo.

Benjamín Garmendia is currently enrolled in Y Combinator's W21 program. Prior to this, they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford between 2015 and 2018. Benjamín attended Markham College from 2001 to 2014 and The Hotchkiss School in 2013. In addition, they have obtained certifications in Visual Design and Branding from SuperHi (2020), Introduction to UI Design from Crehana (2020), Certificate in Numerical Reasoning and Mathematics Education from Innova Teaching School ITS (2019), and Introduction to UX Design from SuperHi (2019).
