Peter Ambiel serves as the Commercial EV Strategy Lead at SMUD since June 2024, focusing on commercial electric vehicle strategy and infrastructure development. Ambiel has extensive experience in electric vehicle research and policy, having coordinated the Bay Area Fellowship for the Clean Energy Leadership Institute and contributed to significant research projects at the University of California, Davis. Previous roles include managing transportation electrification programs at Peninsula Clean Energy and leading projects at Tesla, where Ambiel was instrumental in deploying thousands of EV charging stations across the Northeast. Education includes a Master of Science in Energy Systems from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University.
