Nicholas Braithwaite has served as Executive Dean of the STEM Faculty at The Open University since January 2019, contributing to the institution's mission of providing accessible higher education through innovative distance learning resources. Previously, Nicholas held various academic positions at The Open University from 1987 to 2003, including Lecturer, Senior Lecturer in Electronic Materials, and Reader in Engineering Physics. Nicholas earned a D Phil in Investigations of a thermally produced (caesium) plasma and an MSc in The Science and Application of Electric Plasmas from the University of Oxford, and a BSc in Physics from UMIST.
