Zara Seibel

Zara Seibel is a highly experienced scientist currently serving as a Senior Scientist I at Codexis, Inc. since May 2018, where Zara manages two direct reports and leads enzyme evolution programs. Previously, Zara held positions as a Scientist II and Scientist I in Process Chemistry at Merck, contributing to significant projects including the validation campaign for MK 1439 (doravirine) and method development for synthesizing phenols and thiophenols. Zara began their scientific career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Columbia University, focusing on organocatalytic processes and high-throughput experimentation, and also gained teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry. Additionally, Zara has an undergraduate research background from Harvey Mudd College and experience as a Summer Intern at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Zara holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College.
