Sara Hooker

Sara Hooker has a diverse work experience in various industries. Sara is currently the Head of Cohere For AI at Cohere, where they lead a team of research scientists and engineers focused on modeling language and improving the efficiency of large language models. Prior to this, Sara worked at Google as a Research Scientist for five years, from July 2017 to June 2022. Sara also has experience in the non-profit sector, having founded and served as the Volunteer Executive Director of Delta Analytics, a non-profit organization providing pro bono data science consulting for non-profits and social impact ventures. During their time at Delta Analytics, Sara worked on 29 projects to deliver data insights and management services. Before that, they worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Udemy from May 2015 to May 2017. Sara's career began as a Senior Economics Analyst at Compass Lexecon, where they worked from September 2013 to May 2015.

Sara Hooker holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Computer Science from Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute. Sara completed their Bachelors degree at Carleton College from 2009 to 2013. In 2012, they also studied Economics at FGV - Fundação Getulio Vargas. Prior to that, Sara earned an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in 2008 from United World College Waterford Kamhlaba.
