Comarch
Janusz Filipiak holds the title of Professor of Technical Sciences. In 1993, he established Comarch – the first Polish company based on knowledge. Janusz Filipiak is an editor and author of journals, and consultant for domestic and foreign institutions.
In the 1990s, he was an ordinary professor at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. By the age of 39, he had been awarded the title of Professor by the President of the Republic of Poland.
Professor Filipiak has written six books on teleinformatics, including “Modelling and Control of Dynamic Flows in Communications Networks”, Springer-Verlag, 1988, and “Real Time Network Management”, North Holland, 1991. He is the author of more than 100 papers on data transmission and teleinformatics, published in the IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, Operations Research, and other journals known worldwide. In addition, he edited Telecommunication Services for Developing Economies, Elsevier, 1991 and other journals.
He completed a managerial course in Japan. He also worked as a scientific consultant for France Telecom and held the function of Director Plenipotentiary at the Teletraffic Research Center at the University of Adelaide. He conducted research projects in laboratories in the United States and Canada.
In 2004, Professor Filipiak was honored by the President of the Republic of Poland with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for outstanding contributions to the development of telecommunications and information technology, and in 2012 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his outstanding contribution to national economic development and achievements in charity and social activities. In 2013, Professor Filipiak also received the prestigious IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Industry Leader Award 2012 for his contribution to the development of the communications industry and IT technologies. In 2016, Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, recognized Professor Janusz Filipiak for his services to Polish business, awarding him an individual prize.
