Julie Galano

Julie Galano has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Julie started their professional career at Thomas Cook in 1998 as an Overseas Resort Supervisor and worked there until 2004. Julie then joined Johnston Press in 2004 as a Business Development Manager for a year. In 2006, they became the Head of Funding at both The National Lottery Community Fund and Big Lottery Fund. Julie'slatest role was at St Anne's catholic primary school, where they served as the Chair of Governors from October 2015 to April 2021.

Julie Galano pursued their education from 1986 to 1993 at St Anthony's RC Girls School where they obtained 10 GCSEs and completed 4 A-Levels. Later, they attended Leeds Trinity University from 1993 to 1997, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Spanish with Media.

The board is responsible for setting the Fund’s long-term strategy and key policies, and making sure that it’s run in an effective and efficient way. Itdelegates the day-to-day running of the organisation to the chief executive and her senior management team.The chief executive and her senior management team are responsible for delivering the strategy and policies set by the board. They oversee the day-to-day running of the Fund.Their work is divided into five portfolios, covering funding across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, and the UK as a whole.
