Toshiyuki Shimada is an accomplished conductor and music educator with extensive experience in various prestigious orchestras and academic institutions. Since May 2018, Toshiyuki has served as a Master Class Instructor at the New York Conductors Workshop and concurrently holds the position of Director of the Orchestra Study at Connecticut College since July 2020. Toshiyuki is also the Music Director and Conductor for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and the New Britain Symphony Orchestra, alongside similar roles with The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and the Lindenbaum Festival Orchestra. Additionally, Toshiyuki has been a Board Member of The Conductors Guild since March 2019 and has a long tenure with Vienna Modern Masters as Principal Conductor. Past roles include Music Director for the Yale Symphony Orchestra and Associate Professor of Conducting at Yale University. Educational qualifications include degrees in Conducting from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and a BM in Clarinet/Conducting from California State University, Northridge.
