Senior Product Designer – Design System

About the Role

Forma 36 is an open-source design system by Contentful
 created with the intent to reduce the overhead of creating UI
 by providing tools and guidance for digital teams. You will work with a cross-functional product team on enabling our customers and internal teams to build interactive apps with Forma 36.

If you have a passion for design systems and optimizing workflows this role may be a good fit. You’ll join a design guild of passionate design generalists who enjoy continuous learning, and the opportunity to impact the product and the organization in a meaningful way.

Responsibilities

You’ll be a key player in your cross-functional product development team during discovery and delivery. You’ll drive initiatives to make your product team and the design guild more successful.

• Partner with a product manager in identifying and defining the right problems to solve
• Partner with UX researchers and data analysts in discovery work
• Expand our Forma 36 design system with new components, interaction patterns and tooling to increase adoption
• Collaborate with internal teams in direction, contribution and release processes for Forma36
• Champion accessibility
• Own pattern libraries and documentation
• Run experiments and user testing during early release phases
• Support designers in streamlining their workflows

What you need to be successful

• Strong communication skills
• A self starter mentality
• Evidence-based decision making
• Experience in building and scaling design systems
• Strong knowledge of UI design patterns and best practices (web and mobile)
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional UI design skills
• In-depth knowledge of accessibility principles and standards
• Decent UX copy writing skills
• Demonstrated expertise in applying motion to support usability and user delight
• A passion for web technologies
• Ability to converse with developers about implementation details
• A good understanding of software deployment processes
