Umair Javed currently serves as Senior Vice President at CTIA since August 2023. Previously, Javed held significant roles at the Federal Communications Commission, including Chief Counsel to the Chairwoman from October 2017 to June 2023, where advice was provided on political, legal, and policy matters, and Javed served as the FCC designee on President Biden’s Competition Council. In earlier positions, Javed was a Legal Advisor in the Office of the Chairwoman, conducting reviews of legal and policy issues, and advocating on technology-related matters. Javed's career also includes experience as an Attorney at Wiley Rein LLP, focusing on telecommunications, media, and technology regulation. Javed earned a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and a BA in Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law from the University of Virginia.
