Shannon Simpson

Associate Professor at Curtin University

Shannon Simpson is an Associate Professor at Curtin University and holds the position of Adjunct Research Fellow at the same institution since December 2016. Additionally, Shannon has served as Co-head of Children's Lung Health at Telethon Kids Institute since September 2018, leading a team focused on lung growth and development in health and chronic lung diseases. Previous positions include Adjunct Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia from 2011 to June 2018 and NHMRC Peter Doherty Research Fellow at Telethon Kids Institute from May 2010 to December 2017, where Shannon was recognized for significant contributions to Australian health research. Earlier experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Victorian Department of Primary Industries from 2008 to 2010 and as a Research Assistant. Shannon holds multiple degrees from the University of Tasmania, including a PhD in Respiratory Physiology and a PhD in Respiratory Medicine/Physiology, as well as a Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons) and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science from La Trobe University.
