Mark W Johnson started their work experience in 1997 as a Scientist at TRW, Inc. Mark W then joined Northrop Grumman Space Technology in 2002, where they worked as a Scientist until 2005. In the same year, they moved to D-Wave Systems Inc. and held various roles including Senior Scientist, Director of Research, Senior Director of Processor Development, Senior Director of Processor Design & Development and Quantum Products, Vice President of Processor Design & Development and Quantum Products, and Vice President of Quantum Technologies and Systems Products. Currently, they are the Senior Vice President of Quantum Technologies and Systems Products at D-Wave Systems Inc.

Mark W Johnson obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Harvey Mudd College from 1985 to 1989. Mark W further pursued their education at the University of Rochester, where they completed their PhD in Physics from 1989 to 1996.
