Ottar Mæland has extensive work experience in the offshore industry. Ottar worked at DeepOcean from 2015 to present, holding various roles including Chief Operations Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Interim CEO, Chief Commercial Officer, and Executive Vice President Greater North Sea. In these positions, they played a key role in restructuring the company and managing operations during the downturn in the offshore industry. Prior to DeepOcean, Ottar worked at Norsk Hydro from 2000 to 2007, where they held positions such as Extrusion Process Manager and Senior Engineer, focusing on technical issues and customer relations in the Central European market.
Ottar Mæland completed the Advanced Management Program in Business Administration and Management at Harvard Business School Executive Education in 2017. In 2004, they obtained a degree in Business Economics from BI Norwegian Business School. Earlier, from 1995 to 2000, Ottar pursued a Master of Science degree in Metallurgy from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
