Tamara Shie is an experienced Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State, currently serving as a Program Analyst in the Afghan Special Immigrant Visa Unit since January 2023. Previously, Shie held the position of Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy from July to December 2022 and worked as an Indonesian Political/Military Analyst at the Defense Attache's Office from January 2009 to July 2011, where contributions included writing reports on political and military issues in Indonesia and acting as a liaison for analysts. Prior roles included monitoring security challenges as a Southeast Asia/Oceania Analyst for the United States Department of Defense and serving as a Research Associate focusing on East Asia at the Institute for National Strategic Studies. Shie holds multiple degrees, including an MA in International Policy Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and an MA in Southeast Asian Studies from the National University of Singapore.
