Designwerk Group

Designwerk stands for electromobility from a one-stop shop. For developing, driving, charging and storing. The passion for electric mobility grew in the founders during the 80-day, all-electric world record circumnavigation with the specially developed Zerotracer cabin motorcycle. Since its founding in 2008, Designwerk has been driving electromobility forward with innovative products and projects, aiming to spread sustainable mobility. The company acts both as a think tank for electromobility and as a development and production company. Designwerk combines innovative development work with premium engineering services, intelligent industrial design, pioneer mentality and reliable Swiss quality. The company’s contract development portfolio consists of more than 100 projects and includes, among others, an all-electric remake of the BMW classic Isetta, which resulted in the Microlino project, and the co-development of the DXP postal delivery vehicle, which is produced and distributed by the Kyburz company. In 2021, Volvo Group acquired a stake in Designwerk Group to complement its existing offering in the area of niche products and solutions. Encouraged by this, Designwerk is using the Volvo Group’s confidence in its forward-looking products for further growth. Under the Designwerk brand, electric trucks, mobile and stationary fast chargers and modular high-voltage battery systems for electric vehicles are developed and manufactured. The e-trucks include the first fully electric refuse collection vehicles on Swiss roads and the e-trucks with the largest battery capacities and ranges currently available. The chargers are widely used in development departments and vehicle dealers of European vehicle manufacturers. The modular traction batteries also enable smaller and medium-sized vehicle manufacturers to successfully enter and transition to electromobility. Together, we are driving the transformation to electromobility.
