Lead Designer - Product/ux

Overview:

We are looking for a founding level product and UX designer to join our in-person team. As our first full-time designer, you will work closely with our founders, customers, and engineers to create clean and intuitive designs and experiences.

Our company is fundamentally built around extremely challenging design and user experience problems. Our product processes data from the radio spectrum that typically takes experts with years of training to understand and delivers insights in ways that our customers say they could explain to their parents. We allow non-technical users to perform complex data science workflows intuitively without even realizing it.

This is a challenging role that will require developing a strong understanding of our technology and precisely what our customers need.

We’re looking for someone excited to be one of the first hires at a startup who is ready to grow with us and dive into a novel and deeply technical field.

Responsibilities:

Own the Design and UX of Our Core Product:

• Understand intricate user interactions and translate technical insights for non-technical users
• Help translate high-level customer objectives into specific product interfaces
• Design creative visualizations and sophisticated workflows

Collaborate with the Whole Team:

• Work closely with founders, engineering team, and customers to make continuous improvements to existing product and drive new features

Rapid Prototyping:

• Quickly iterate on new features and interactions to test with customers

Refine Branding and Design Language:

• Enhance the company’s branding to create a cohesive and appealing identity across all products and materials

Support Additional Design Projects

• Create designs for product graphics, one pagers, website updates, etc

Requirements:

• Experience leading product and UX design, preferably within a startup or fast-paced environment
• Experience designing complex applications, visualizations, and workflows
• Ability to produce creative, functional, and beautiful designs
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience collaborating closely with engineers and customers to gather requirements and iterate on designs
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with front-end development languages like HTML and CSS
• Familiarity with the unique challenges of designing for non-technical users performing complex tasks.
