Jim Foley has a strong background in the mining industry, with experience in various leadership roles. Jim is currently serving as the Vice President of Engineering at DMC Mining Services since January 2023. Prior to that, they were the General Manager at the same company from November 2021 to January 2023. Before joining DMC Mining Services, Jim worked at Tetra Tech WEI Inc., where they held multiple positions over the years. From September 2013 to November 2021, they served as the General Manager - Canadian Mining Practice. Jim also worked as the Vice President of Operations - Infrastructure and Environmental from September 2009 to September 2013, and as the Manager of Projects - Infrastructure and Environmental from September 2006 to September 2009. Jim's earlier experience includes the role of Operations Manager - Infrastructure and Environmental at Tetra Tech WEI Inc. from September 2004 to September 2006.
Jim Foley attended the University of Manitoba from 1980 to 1985, where they obtained a B.Sc. degree in Engineering.

In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world. 1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%. 2013 The company initiated and developed leading edge, shaft sinking technology using Shaft Boring Roadheaders (SBRs) designed and built in Germany for a twin shaft project in Canada. 2015 DMC's Jansen team performed the first ever installation of shaft tubing using a robotic arm called the Blairmore Ring Erector (BRE). 2019 First full completion of 2 x 1000 metre BHP Billiton’s Jansen Shaft project using SBR technology.
