Chris Smith

Chris Smith possesses extensive experience in optical engineering, currently serving as Principal Optical Engineer at Draper since July 2019, where responsibilities include optical design, analysis, and system development for diverse applications in the medical, space, and defense sectors. Prior experience includes roles as Optical Design Engineer at UTC Aerospace Systems, focusing on aerial reconnaissance and blended imagery systems, and as Optical Research Staff Engineer at Lockheed Martin, where military program support was provided through optical design and analysis. Additional positions include Principal at Diffraction Limited Capital Management, Optical Engineer at Raytheon, and Junior Optical Engineer at Precision Optics Corporation, where a range of optical systems were developed. Chris holds a Master of Science in Electro-Optics from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science in Optical Engineering from the University of Arizona.
