Justin Ray worked at Edge Case Research as a Principal System Safety Engineer from November 2022 onwards. Prior to this role, they were a Staff Technical Product Manager from January 2021 to November 2022, and a Lead Engineer from March 2015 to October 2021. Before joining Edge Case Research, Justin worked at Carnegie Mellon University / National Robotics Engineering Center as a Senior Software Engineer from June 2012 to September 2016.
Justin Ray received their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, where they studied from 1999 to 2003. Justin then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2004 to 2013.

Founded by people who were first involved in autonomous vehicle safety as far back as the late 1990s, ECR helps customers in the autonomous vehicle and robotics industries to tackle the thorny problems of safe perception, planning, and actuation.
