Valter Fernandes

Valter Fernandes is a seasoned aviation professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various companies in the airline industry. Currently serving as the Senior Vice President at Emirates since December 2022, Valter oversees Base Maintenance, Engine Shop, and Component Overhaul Workshops for a fleet of over 270 widebody aircraft. Previously, as CEO of PGA-Portugália Airlines from January 2018 to December 2022, Valter was also the EASA Accountable Manager for TAP Express, contributing to the growth of a company with 650 employees. Additional leadership roles include serving as a Board Member for the European Regions Airline Association and a Non-Executive Board Member at Groundforce Portugal. Valter's earlier career at TAP Portugal included various managerial and executive positions focusing on operations, maintenance, and organizational transformation following privatization. Valter holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and has completed an Executive Program in Business Administration at INSEAD, along with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
