Antonio Varone is a highly motivated Biomedical Engineer with a PhD in Pharmacology, an MS in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, and a BASc in Biotechnology. Currently serving as Principal Scientist at Emulate, Inc. since July 2017, Antonio has over six years of extensive research experience in the design and development of in vitro 3D pre-clinical human models for investigative toxicology studies. In previous roles, including Senior Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania and various positions at Emulate, Inc. and Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, Antonio has led research initiatives on biomimetic microfluidic chips and complex organ-on-chip developments, focusing on enhancing drug discovery and understanding mechanisms of toxicity in immune-oncology and autoimmunity applications.
