Biao Duan is a highly experienced scientist with extensive expertise in polymer materials and microencapsulation, currently serving as a Staff Scientist at Encapsys since August 2015. Biao has successfully led projects from conception to commercial production, focusing on functional polymers, controlled release systems, and biodegradable materials. Previous positions include Senior Scientist roles at Appvion, Inc. and Appleton Papers, where Biao developed self-healing and responsive polymers, as well as microencapsulation technologies. Additional experience includes research roles at Altria Client Services, Philip Morris USA, and a postdoctoral position at Virginia Commonwealth University. Biao holds a Ph.D. in Polymer from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and a BSc & MSc in Organic Chemistry from Wuhan University.
