Christian Van Heurck has extensive experience in cybersecurity and IT management, currently serving as the Head of Sector for Trainings and Exercises and an Expert in Network and Information Security at the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) since February 2018. Prior to this role, Christian coordinated both the Belnet Security Team and CERT.be, contributing to the Federal Cyber Emergency Team within Belgium from October 2007 to May 2017. Earlier career highlights include positions as a System & Application Manager at CultuurNet Vlaanderen and IT Project Manager at Telepolis Antwerpen - Amaris. Christian holds a Licentiate in Sciences, Physics from Vrije Universiteit Brussel and completed studies in Physical Sciences at the University of Antwerp.

The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) is a centre of network and information security expertise for the EU, its Member States, the private sector and Europe’s citizens. ENISA works with these groups to develop advice and recommendations on good practice in information security. It assists EU Member States in implementing relevant EU legislation and works to improve the resilience of Europe’s critical information infrastructure and networks. ENISA seeks to enhance existing expertise in EU Member States by supporting the development of cross-border communities committed to improving network and information security throughout the EU.
