Alexis Shakas has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. In 2010, they worked as a Lab Assistant at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In 2011, they briefly worked as a Software Engineer at Google. From 2013 to 2017, Alexis pursued a PhD in Earth Sciences at UNIL - Université de Lausanne. In 2018, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Idiap Research Institute. Starting in 2019, Alexis became a Senior Researcher at ETHZ. Additionally, they have experience as a Dive Instructor / Master Scuba Diver Trainer at PADI since 2006.
Alexis Shakas has a strong educational background in geophysics. From 2013 to 2017, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Geophysics from the University of Lausanne - UNIL. Prior to this, from 2011 to 2013, they completed a Master's degree in Applied Geophysics at ETH Zürich. Additionally, in 2011 and 2012, Alexis attended Delft University of Technology for their Masters in Applied Geophysics. They began their academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Physics from UC San Diego, which they obtained from 2007 to 2011.
