Ben Cook is an experienced heavy industry professional with a strong background in rail construction, maintenance, and operations. Currently serving as Equipment Maintenance Manager at Etihad Rail since January 2023, Ben oversees a fleet of maintenance machinery servicing 1200km of government railway between Saudi Arabia and Oman. Previous roles include Rail Bound Plant Supervisor at Roy Hill, Construction Supervisor at Fortescue Metals Group, and several positions across major companies such as BHP and Alstom, where responsibilities ranged from plant supervision to mechanical maintenance and training delivery. Ben holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, along with extensive experience in heavy equipment management and track construction methodologies.

Etihad Rail was established in June 2009 under Federal Law No. 2, with the mandate to manage the development, construction and operation of the UAE’s national freight and passenger railway network. The railway network will link the principal centres of population and industry of the UAE, and will form a vital part of the planned GCC railway network across the GCC.
